Guided LGBT+ History Walk with London Museum

Young Persons Club is a great way to meet LGBT+ persons, play games and participate in fun, informative workshops. 

The first part of the session is social, where members play games, have a bite to eat or enjoy a hot drink. If it is your first time, you will be shown around and introduced to others. All participants are required to wear a name tag with the preferred gender pronoun. 

The second part is the workshop; topics vary greatly between sessions and often are delivered by external facilitators or members. 

The session finishes with an evaluation on Mentimeter and clears out. We ask you to help where you can.

Leigh Bowery’s short but extraordinary life left a distinct, undeniable mark on the art world and beyond.

An artist, performer, model, TV personality, club promoter, fashion designer and musician, Bowery took on many different roles, all the while refusing to be limited by convention.

From his emergence in the nightlife of 1980s London through to his later daring and outrageous performances in galleries, theatres, and the street, Bowery fearlessly forged his own vibrant path. He reimagined clothing and makeup as forms of painting and sculpture, tested the limits of decorum, and celebrated the body as a shape-shifting tool with the power to challenge norms of aesthetics, sexuality and gender.

Embracing performance, club culture and fashion design, Bowery created some of the most iconic images of the 1980s and 90s that continue to resonate, with his influence seen in the work of figures such as Alexander McQueen, Jeffrey Gibson, Anohni, and Lady Gaga.

This eclectic and immersive exhibition is a rare chance to experience many of Bowery’s ‘Looks’ alongside his collaborations with artists including Michael Clark, John Maybury, Baillie Walsh, Fergus Greer, Nick Knight and Lucian Freud.\

This stunning piece of verbatim theatre highlights the teachers, students, and activists who lived through this time. From the double life of a closeted teacher to tales of church-based conversion therapy, this show explores the silence and shame created during this time, as well as the bravery and strength of those who resisted.\

In a run-down church hall with an OWL (Older, Wiser Lesbian) at the helm, the rag tag choir navigate love, loss, and trying to agree on song choices. But despite their best intentions, they find that harmony comes at a price.

Packed with laugh out loud moments and lots of lesbian drama, this heart-warming musical comedy returns following its sold-out premiere at Soho Theatre in 2022.\
